Living in the favor of God

Living in God's Favor

This week I want to encourage you to learn the "favor" of God. It is a big deal; a central concept. You will see "grace" often in the New Testament, but the best definition of the word is "favor." When you believe and are baptized, you come into God's favor, and his favor is what saves you. So, read "favor" in these Bible verses rather than "grace."

One more explanation. I once met the niece of the dictator of a small South American country. As a niece, she could have enjoyed his favor. She could have lived in his mansion and enjoyed his protection and riches. She lived in Europe instead because she knew there would eventually be a coup, and she did not want to be there when he was overthrown.

God is not like South American dictators. He will never be overthrown. You have been brought into God's favor, his "good graces," by your faith. You are children of the King over all kings.

Congratulations.

Ephesians 2:1-10

Romans 5:1-8

Titus 2:11-15

Romans 6:14 (but also v.1-13)

Especially in Romans 6:1 and 6:14, read "in his favor" rather than "under grace."
